Construction has now started at SEGRO Park, the 333,000 sq ft development scheme forming the first phase of the East Plus industrial property portfolio.
SEGRO was chosen as the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) development partner for East Plus in October 2015. BBP Regeneration had previously submitted representations to the GLA, on behalf of London Borough of Havering, urging them to maximise the socioeconomic benefits of their 86-acre portfolio through the developer procurement process. The representations included proposals to ringfence land for much needed new office floorspace to counteract higher values achievable through logistics space, and ensuring the delivery of a variety of unit sizes across all uses in order to support start-ups and SMEs.
SEGRO have confirmed that the scheme will include an ‘Enterprise Quarter’ with 42 units ranging from 500 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft. Tenants will also benefit from the support of Havering Council’s new job brokerage service. Funded by SEGRO, this bespoke and free service is designed to help new occupiers to recruit a locally skilled workforce. A dedicated Account Manager will work with customers to understand their recruitment needs and help to design and deliver a business-led training and recruitment package.
